Story
This custom furniture suite was designed specifically for the North Lakes residential estates. Initially developed in conjunction with AECOM in 2001, the designs are a robust and solution that sit comfortably within both natural and built environments.
With forms inspired by the architecture on site, the main focus of the furniture suite was to create a unique and unified identity for the parkland and community areas of the estates. Motivated by longevity and ease of maintenance, the initial material palette for the suite mainly included cast aluminium elements combined with pre-cast concrete and hardwood timber. The manufacturing process for many of these items has continued to be refined (with a design revision being completed in 2006) with the advancement of available technology over the course of the project.
This initial suite included a variety of bench seats and table settings, with additional custom design works and complementary bollards, bicycle racks, drinking fountains, and bin enclosures having also been commissioned at various stages.
All necessary site analysis, product feasibility studies, prototyping and technical documentation were also undertaken by Street & Garden studio during the various design and manufacturing phases of the project.documentation were also undertaken by Street & Garden studio during the various design and manufacturing phases of the project.
