Story
Aspects of the coastal location along with functional considerations became the key elements used to develop the Mollymook designs. Combining laser-cut steel with shaped hardwood timber elements the furniture suite includes platform bench seats, table settings and bin enclosures.
Taking advantage of the views, breezes and the sun conditions on site the appearance of the furniture changes throughout the day. The patterning details in the steel elements of the furniture resemble the forms left by wave action in the sands. This effect is emphasised by the back to back arrangement on the platform bench, which plays with light and shadow effects that change according to the viewers position.
All necessary site analysis, product feasibility studies, prototyping and technical documentation were also undertaken by Street & Garden studio during the various design and manufacturing phases of the project.
