It is difficult to escape the application of surfboard shapes to street furniture designs at places such as Burleigh Heads, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay.

These places are legendary for their connection to water sports, in particular surfing. Oval shapes adapt well to foot traffic flow so offer both a practical and visually appropriate form for these applications and places. The designs based on these forms and installed in these places have been well received by the public and as such have suffered minimal vandalism. A sure sign of the success of this design is the number of benches stolen!
