A detailed review and analysis of the proposed design package was undertaken in relation to project specific needs. In consultation with the client, particular reference was made to: site specific requirements, functionality, ergonomics, economic viability, longevity, maintenance, material choices and manufacturability.
The client had made particular reference to a previous S+G design (SIT Range), and wanted to replicate the aesthetics as a custom solution specific to the site. Some existing items were customised to suit the project, whilst the materials and finishes were applied to the custom items.
2. CONCEPT DESIGN
With the layout and concept resolved by the client, Street + Garden was able to move directly to the design development stage.
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Review Findings / Select Design Options
Utilising the client’s drawings as initial design concepts, the project was taken through to the design development phase which allowed feasibility costing / estimating. These were developed and presented as elevation drawings, 3D model renderings, and detailed text.
The design was developed in keeping with the original design intent. Particular considerations were made in relation to manufacturability, budget, and installation. To achieve this the design was systemised using seating and leg modules.
Final Design Selection
Further design iterations were required in correspondence with both the client and building contractor to further refine the design development. These were developed and presented as elevation drawings, 3D model renderings, and detailed text.
Prepare for Production
Detail production notes were added by the client and the final design was approved for final pricing and production.
On approval of final design by the client team, the project was taken through to the construction documentation phase. This included the development of all technical drawings and specification information relevant to the construction and manufacturing of the required designs.
On the completion of all necessary construction documentation, detailed supply costing and lead times were provided according to specified furniture item schedules.
Manufacture / Production Management
Beyond the design and documentation stages Street + Garden provided project management of all works undertaken from fabrication through to supply. This included comprehensive quality assurance at all stages including ongoing meetings with the client at regular intervals to manage the project as required. Upon handover of the works Street + Garden issued a consolidated ‘As Built’ drawing package that accurately represented the completed project works including all warranty and maintenance specifications.
